Use Digital Thermometer For Clear, Quick, and Accurate Display of Temperature!

A thermometer is a standard instrument used to measure body temperature. It is an essential item in any healthcare setup. The clinics, households, and schools keep a thermometer for regular or emergency health checkups. Fever, indicated by above-normal temperature, is a symptom of many severe health conditions.

Healthcare practitioners check the body temperature frequently to know the recovery and state of any patient admitted to the medical facility or at home. They use a digital pen type thermometer that displays temperature in bold numerics prominently, accurately, and quickly. They have stopped using conventional mercury thermometers, which break easily and spread poisonous mercury.

Digital Pen Type Thermometers for Industrial Use

There is another category of digital pen type thermometers with an electronic sensor that measures the temperature of various fluids and granular materials. It displays values between -50 to 300 degrees Fahrenheit. It comes with the on/off and hold buttons. The hold button retains the reading.

Types of Thermometer For Healthcare

The nursing staff uses ear thermometers for kids and adults sometimes. They insert their tip into the ear canal, press the thermometer button, and wait for temperature beeps. Infrared thermometers use an infrared scanner to measure the temperature without touch. They are easy to use but less reliable than other thermometers.

Strip-type thermometers are similar to plastic tapes which the practitioners place on thermometers to check the temperature. The digital pen type thermometer has emerged as a popular and reliable device for measuring body temperature.

Way to Measure Temperature Through Thermometer

The caretakers or medical practitioners typically place the thermometer under the armpit (axillary) or tongue (oral) to know the body temperature in any condition. However, the ways to use ear (tympanic), infrared, and strip-type thermometers differ from that.

The oral readings by touch thermometers are precise for older kids and adults. But the mouth should remain closed while the thermometer is in the mouth. Digital thermometers detect the body temperature using heat sensors within a minute or less. They show temperature less by half to one Fahrenheit in armpits compared to oral readings.

The Bottom Line

To measure oral temperature accurately, one should wash their hands thoroughly, clean the digital pen type thermometer, check its batteries, remove the plastic sheath over the bottom tip, and turn it on. Its popping light and sound indicate its readiness to check the temperature. After a beeping indication, one should place it beneath the tongue and close the mouth. A beeping sound occurs on detection and display of temperature. The users should take the thermometer out of their mouth and read the value displayed.
